Overview

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a youth development programme that encourages young people to challenge themselves, build confidence, and develop life skills through a series of activities. At Glenmoor & Winton Academies, students are able to participate in the Bronze and Silver awards, starting from Year 9. Each level involves completing four sections—Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and an Expedition. Participants choose their own activities, allowing them to tailor the experience to their interests. Taking part in the DofE helps young people grow in resilience, teamwork, and leadership, which is why we strongly encourage our students to participate. It’s highly regarded by employers and universities for the valuable skills it fosters, and is a rewarding experience for all those who participate.
